Oliver Twist is born in a workhouse and grows up facing hunger, neglect, and cruel treatment. After asking for more food, he is punished and eventually escapes to London in search of a better life. There, he encounters the criminal Fagin and his group of young pickpockets, who draw Oliver into their dangerous world. Although Oliver becomes caught in circumstances beyond his control, several kind people try to protect him. As his past begins to unfold, important secrets about his family and identity are revealed.
